This new branch library is located in the heart of a historically poor urban neighborhood.  The materials, structure, and massing were chosen to convey a transparent and welcoming environment.  The unique building massing responds to dual entrances - focusing on both pedestrian access and a vehicular parking area at back.  Once inside, the library stacks align with a breathtaking framed view of the Mississippi River Bridge - an identifying icon for the city.
